Hofstra and North Shore LIJ Expand Partnership

Hofstra University and North Shore LIJ have announced an expansion of their partnership with the launch of a Graduate School of Nursing and Health Professions.  The program, targeted to begin in September, would offer a part time, three year track to a master of science degree in adult-gerontology acute-care nurse practitioner or a family nurse practitioner.

The partnership enrolled its first medical school class in 2011 with two programs in physician assistant studies: a dual-degree and a graduate.

NIST SURF Program

The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) is once again offering its Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship (SURF) program to current college students who are studying STEM majors.  The 11 week program takes place at two locations: Boulder, CO (May 18 through July 31) and Gaithersburg, MD (May 26 through August 7).  Students will be able to participate in ongoing research at cutting edge laboratories working with leading organizations that include three Nobel Prize winners.  Applications must be submitted through the student's college or university - individual applications will not be accepted.  All submissions are due by February 13, 2015.
