Earning an Online Degree

Distance learning has become increasingly popular over the years with more schools making their programs available online.  Students are able to earn degrees without ever traveling to a campus, doing all coursework through a virtual classroom.  The Center for Online Education offers a resource for students looking to pursue a degree in engineering online.  In addition to researching by school, state, degree or subject to find a list of colleges, you can also explore the benefits and requirements of various degrees, along with some average engineering salaries.

Free Online Courses

edX offers free online courses (MOOC) covering a wide range of topics from Architecture to Computer Science, Medicine and Electronics.  Choose courses and take them at your own pace using the latest social learning tools.  Additional offerings include AP prep courses and others to help high school students prepare for college.

Adelphi-Winthrop Summer Science Institute

High school students interested in exploring a career in medicine/health care can participate in a summer program jointly run by Adelphi University and Winthrop-University Hospital that will provide them with the opportunity to learn about topics such as: magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), cancer research and therapies and human genetic research.

Two sessions: July 18 - 22 and July 25 - 29 are available.  Visit Adelphi's website for additional information.
